A two-day workshop on solar energy systems drew over 80 participants, sparking conversations about sustainable futures in rural Bengal.
Over two days in March, more than 80 residents from three villages gathered for a solar energy awareness workshop organised by IQUZ Galaxy Trust. The sessions — led by energy experts and government scheme facilitators — covered solar panel basics, cost-benefit comparisons with grid electricity, and how to navigate government subsidy schemes.
For many attendees, it was their first time learning about renewable energy in a practical, accessible way. "I always thought solar was too expensive," said one farmer from the second day's session. "Now I know the government subsidy can cover most of the cost."
The Trust distributed resource booklets in Bengali, and a follow-up session has already been scheduled for two additional villages. The workshop also generated a list of households interested in applying for solar installation support.
